Team changes.

A number of teams have struggled in past weeks and are in the process of being replaced. The ones named are Fusion, Soca and Roar.

Seaburn Soca (Wear Consulting) 2 Roker Roar (Bunker) 0.
Both Seaburn and Roker have been removed from the league, mainly due to unreliability. In place came Wear Consulting, a previous entrant from a few seasons ago and Roker were represented by Bunker. Wear will eventually take over Redhouse Fusion and it’s likely we’ll have a four team Semi Final play off to decide the finalists (all on one night).

Redhouse Rockets 3 Soul Cal 3.
Last time out, Rockets conceded five goals against Sassco but still won the game. This time against Soul Cal, they conceded three but couldn’t get the three points as Soul Cal cancelled them out.

A fiery game. Soul Cal had one player “sin binned”, but still managed to run out winners in a successful night.

Seaburn win again. Soul Cal’s impressive debut. Downhill’s steady progress.

Pleased to say that the Tuesday League is thriving. From a low number of teams back when last season ended, to a total of nine well organised and enthusiastic sides.

Downhill Impact 4 Bunker UK 0.
Another impressive win for Downhill as they took Bunker apart in a strong second half. Dan Campbell’s chipped goal being the highlight. We nearly had another highlight when Campbell thought he’d lost his phone…again. Bunker had a glorious chance to equalise in the second half, but the shot was fired straight into Pearson’s midriff.

Redhouse Rockets 6 Redhouse Storm 0.
The Storm were fully kitted with an impressive new outfit, but suffered badly as the Rockets took them apart, with a scintillating performance.

Seaburn Soca 2 Roker Roar 1.
Joey Judson and Glen Hildrew were pumped up on Tic-Tacs and full-fat Coca Cola before the game and tore around the pitch to give their previously under pressure manager, Brook Dickens, more breathing space with goals in Soca’s second consecutive win. Roker Roar did managed to score, but Soca were too good in the end.

Sassco.co.uk 1 Soul Cal 1.
“How the f**k did he score from there?” were Sangha’s words as one of his ex-players, Brian Marley, pirouetted between two players like the finest ballerina, to fire in an equaliser for the new team, Soul Cal. The team were made up of the core of the old Bunker side from a few years back. Sassco had the better chances in the game, but only scored late in the second half. The equaliser came in the last few minutes.

Delighted to receive delivery of the new 2010 Sassco Bunker ball. Bunker UK changed their logo a while back, so it’s only correct to have a new set of footballs. The other logos show the 10th Anniversary logo, the Charter Standard logo and also the Spain Tour 2010 logo.

These are made to the highest FIFA Approved standards, with the usual durable material as they are regularly used on the second generation artificial turf for the 6-a-side League. They will also be used in Sassco’s 11-a-side home games and taken on tour to Barcelona, Spain in October 2010.

Redhouse Storm’s debut ends in a defeat.

Sassco comfortably defeated Bunker with two goals from Bell and two from Muers. The first half was 1-0 and there were opportunities for Bunker to equalise. Once the second goal went in, Sassco had plenty of chances, while Simpson made some excellent stops to make sure his team kept a clean sheet.

Roker Roar 1 Redhouse Storm 0.
A debut for the new side, Storm, in similar conditions, as the rain hurtled down. Roker Roar, who sprung to life in last weeks surprise 1-0 over Rockets, did the same this week. Storm dominated the game, but in their only chance of the first half, Roar fired in the only goal.

Redhouse Rockets 3 Seaburn Soca 2.
The best game of the night saw Rockets take the lead, but Seaburn replied and then scored what seemed to be the winner. However, with time running out and the rain not letting up, Rockets equalised and then struck soon after to take the win.

Rockets are shocked by a Roker winner.

Redhouse Fusion 7 Sassco.co.uk 2.
Sassco were brimming with confidence, having added Stevie Weavie Borat and Thomas and Teeb to the team from the ashes of the long forgotten WWC team. Another added bonus was the Muers was missing. However, Fusion dominated and struck after a few near misses. Amazingly, Sassco equalised with Garrett firing past the hapless Dinning. Eventually, Fusion’s attacking prowess easily took Sassco apart with further goals.

Roker Roar 1 Redhouse Rockets 0.
Rockets were another team brimming with hope of three points against the newcomers, Roker, who were defeated last week. The game wore on, with both sides firing blanks and both ‘keepers making saves, before a genuine roar welcomed Roker’s late goal. An unlikely result.

Bunker UK 3 Seaburn Soca 1.
Bunker cruised to a win over Seaburn. That’s three games without a win for Seaburn who have hit rock bottom. On the other side, this was the Bunker’s first win in the competition.

Fusion took their time to open the scoring against the Bunker, but once they did, they looked unstoppable. When the second goal went in, the flood gates opened and Bunker suffered their heaviest defeat to date.

Sassco.co.uk 3 Seaburn Soca 1.
The new team came out of the blocks rapidly against an ageing and creaking Sassco side, which boasted veterans such as “Teeb” Farrer, Thomas Bell and Mark Muers. Soca scored first, with a solid shot through Simpson, but Sassco came back strongly and raced into a one goal lead, with two goals at their either side of the half. Late on, despite some immense pressure, which should have led to a Soca equaliser, Muers, for Sassco, liberated the team with the third and decisive goal.

Redhouse Fusion 6 Downhill Impact 1.
A more than useful Downhill side were walloped in the searing heat. The domination was so complete in that the only time the Fusion ‘keeper picked the ball up was when Downhill scored their only goal.

The most exciting thing that happened for Downhill was when Anth Pearson noticed that referee, Ken Street, had his jumper on back to front.

Shaun Crann opened the scoring for Bunker, as these two youthful teams battled it out. Eventually the Rockets equalised and then went ahead with the goals from Hayden Raine and Liam “Nikey” Laidler. A fairly even game. Both sides had chances to score more goals.

Strong opening from Redhouse Rockets.

For a first game, it was more than impressive from the newly formed Redhouse Rockets, with their manager, Kurt Richardson, in goal. Fusion were due to play WWC in the title decider, but WWC withdrew, therefore giving Fusion the title (again). Nevertheless, Fusion are worthy champions, having led the table for the full season.

This game was converted from a friendly to an actual league game to kick off Season 16. All teams will be playing each other three times, so to put Rockets in against Fusion at the start was a difficult opener. Rockets were 1-0 down, but soon hammered in a superb equaliser past Craig Dinning. The game continued and eventually, Fusion ran out 5-3 winners. Brilliant start from Rockets, and already Bunker, Sassco and Impact should be worried.

Having been walloped in the majority of their games last season, Sassco didn’t really expect much against a more mobile Bunker team. An early goal conceded was soon replied to with Muers scoring, and the same player grabbed a second goal to give Sassco an unlikely lead. Bunker scored a deserved equaliser and had two glorious chances to take the game, only to be thwarted by Brian Marley replacing Dave Simpson in the Sassco goal.

The new Bunker sponsored Adidas shirt for the Summer friendly games and the 2010-2011 season as well as beyond. The type is Adidas Toque and it contains the usual Sassco embroidered badge from the Weishin Company in China, as well as the new sponsor logo and standard numbering on the reverse (printed by Aztec Print).

The majority of the shirts are sized large and are in long sleeve.

Delighted to announce that The Bunker will be taking on the role of main 11-a-side sponsor for next season. This now means that they sponsor the 11-a-side and the 6-a-side. Thanks to iKobo for supporting us for the past two years, but they may well still be involved with us next season and would be the main sponsor for the second shirt.

The Bunker have been involved with Sassco since 2006, when they became the semi-permanent sponsor of the 6-a-side League. They are now permanent sponsors of the Tuesday League as part of the deal which sees them funding the 11-a-side team. A new shirt will be produced to replace the two-season iKobo blue shirt, which has done the team proud by being the longest used shirt since 2004.
