Strong opening from Redhouse Rockets.

Wooton leaps and uses the full force of his oval head to clear the ball.

Redhouse Fusion 5 Redhouse Rockets 3.
Season 15 Champions: Redhouse Fusion. For a first game, it was more than impressive from the newly formed Redhouse Rockets, with their manager, Kurt Richardson, in goal. Fusion were due to play WWC in the title decider, but WWC withdrew, therefore giving Fusion the title (again). Nevertheless, Fusion are worthy champions, having led the table for the full season.

This game was converted from a friendly to an actual league game to kick off Season 16. All teams will be playing each other three times, so to put Rockets in against Fusion at the start was a difficult opener. Rockets were 1-0 down, but soon hammered in a superb equaliser past Craig Dinning. The game continued and eventually, Fusion ran out 5-3 winners. Brilliant start from Rockets, and already Bunker, Sassco and Impact should be worried.

Sassco.co.uk 2 Bunker UK 2.
Having been walloped in the majority of their games last season, Sassco didn’t really expect much against a more mobile Bunker team. An early goal conceded was soon replied to with Muers scoring, and the same player grabbed a second goal to give Sassco an unlikely lead. Bunker scored a deserved equaliser and had two glorious chances to take the game, only to be thwarted by Brian Marley replacing Dave Simpson in the Sassco goal.

Another disaster from Sassco as Downhill easily out ran them and took a commanding lead.

WWC 1 Redhouse Fusion 0.
A preview of the major play off next week, as WWC scored the only goal of the game to take a win, despite finishing the league on a good few points behind Fusion.

Even Sangha scores!

WWC FC 5 Downhill Impact* 2.
Downhill Impact were temporarily “replaced” by Conor Staples’ new team. Their opponents were WWC, who while smarting from a surprise defeat last week, were looking to get back amongst it. They did immediately when Sangha, guesting for WWC smacked a clearance off an Impact player which saw the deflection hit the back of the net. WWC sprung into life and the ageing Brazier finally put some effort into it and secured his first hat-trick since 1991. Sangha even brought down a ball perfectly and poked it into the far corner, much to Danni Lay (from Redhouse Fusion’s) disgust.

*Conor Staples’ team will be joining in full for the following season.

Redhouse Fusion 6 Sassco.co.uk 1.
It was backs to the wall for Sassco, but nothing much happened as they conceded six goals in the opening half. Josh Lay usurped his brother, Danni, with a hat-trick. Danni spent the rest of the game attempting to chip the ball over the impressive Simpson, but failed. Liam Wooton wasn’t there, and it’s obvious that he’d have easily chipped a goal in as pound for pound, he’s a much better player than Danni.

Teeb and Teeb Senior = WWC defeat.

Everyone in action during the Fusion - Impact game.

After a good few months in hibernation, the Tuesday 6-a-side League returned to action in glorious sunshine.

Sassco.co.uk 4 WWC FC 1.
It was “ringers” galore as Sassco defeated WWC by a 4-1 scoreline. Both teams were struggling and it was a double-Teeb bonus as Teeb and Teeb Senior were on the pitch together for the first time since they had a kickabout when Teeb was around five years old (he hasn’t made any improvement).

Nevertheless, despite the strong bloodline bond, neither of them passed to each other as neither trusted each others ability. This left ‘Yes Trigger’, Jordan Gallagher and Trevor Walker to fight a lone battle. Tommy Bell was in goal. Muers, for Sassco, had one of his best games ever as he turned Teeb Senior inside and out and attempted to shatter his bones on more than one occasion. The end result was a 4-1 win for a 60% Sassco team.

Redhouse Fusion 4 Downhill Impact 2.
Both the Lay brothers were at it before their kick off, claiming the league was a ‘scam’ and a ‘fix’. Then complaining that I’d only provided them with five outfield tops in a ‘6-a-side’ league. They they complained that the ball was too round, and then complained that Ken Street was refereeing. Ironically, Josh Lay’s anger began the week before when he turned up for football claiming I’d sent him a text that it was on. The proof will be uploaded soon, which will prove that he struggles with numbers.

So, when they were 2-1 down, it was ready to kick off, with both brothers heading for the naughty step. They overcame the struggled and eventually equalised, before gaining some breathing space at 4-2.

Fusion defeat WWC FC.

Downhill Impact 6 Sassco.co.uk 5.
Firstly, Logan launches one of the longest throws ever, considering that most humans can spit further than he can throw a ball. The ball bounced several times before Sassco’s French striker, Eric Foch, deceived the opposing goalkeeper to see the ball directly fly into the goal. It was 1-0, but not long after, Sassco were 3-1 down with Impact completely dominating and taking Sassco to pieces. Sangha even managed to muscle in between to Impact players to poke the ball home towards Logan, who missed it and conceded an own goal.

More goals went in each end, with Callum Howe and Jimmy Raeper scoring a few for Impact and Muers some for Sassco. It was a veteran’s team for Sassco with Dan Carson and Michael Garrett dusting off the cobwebs to don a Sassco jersey.

Redhouse Fusion 4 WWC FC 3.
Both teams were depleted and had to bring in “stand-in” players. An open game saw Fusion secure the winner late in the game past Tommy Bell’s impression of a fat Ian Hesford for WWC FC.

Both Town End and New Tavern ejected from the League.

Redhouse Fusion 3 Downhill Impact 2.
Redhouse Fusion only had five players, but took the game to Downhill Impact. An early goal was replied to with an Impact equaliser. Eventually, Fusion, now with a full six players, took a 3-1 lead. Impact scored again to reduce the arrears to 3-2, but failed to gain an equaliser.

WWC FC 5 Sassco.co.uk 0.
Due to Town End being unable to field a team (and subsequently being ejected from the League), Sassco hastily put together a team to take on WWC. Gordon Robson made his first appearance for Sassco for five years and immediately had a shot on target in the opening seconds. However, it was WWC who were far more clinical, as they raced into a 3-0 lead. Two second half goals added to the tally as WWC and Fusion are the obvious favourites in this four-team league.

Town End “Thunder” past a sorry Sassco.

WWC 4 Downhill Impact 0.

Downhill’s last game was the historic 1-0 victory over the Champions, but this week (after a one week break), it was back down to earth with WWC handing out a resounding thumping. Downhill performed resiliently enough, but struggled to find the back of the net.

Redhouse Fusion 8 Sassco.co.uk 0.
A weakened Sassco team faced Fusion again, this after New Tavern Predators had been suspended (albeit temporarily). The resilient performance last week was a distant memory as Fusion raced into an early lead and never looked back. Every outfield players scored. Wooton with four, both Lays with one each and Baxendale and Andrew Turner with one each.

Town End Thunder 6 Sassco.co.uk 1.
More disappointment in the second game against the revived Town End Thunder, now under the control of Marc McDermont, after Paul “Tyson” Stokoe had forced the previous version into administration. 6-1 was the final score. Neil Richardson scored two, McDermont and Tyson scored one each.

New Tavern annihilated by Teeb FC.

Steve Anderson with Thomas Bell.WWC FC 9 New Tavern Predators 0.
Another disappointing performance from the Predators as they failed to make an impact in their first official league game. WWC struck very early and never looked back. Teeb (Steve Farrer) was in particularly good form and scored a rare header on the 6-a-side. WWC didn’t have Steve Anderson in the side as he claimed he was “getting his teeth whitened.” He eventually turned up and we told him to stand under the damaged floodlight and just smile.

The picture inset shows Steve Anderson and Thomas Bell celebrating after the game. The lights were dim, but with Borat’s new teeth, they won’t be scrabbling around for any dropped change as the natural light meant that you could read a book outdoors with Anderson up until 11:00pm.

A very difficult start for New Tavern. As a new team coming in, they’ll be facing the two strongest teams within the league for their first two games (the second being against Redhouse Fusion). Chris Balmer’s team probably need just to get a good performance out for their next game.

Redhouse Fusion 1 Sassco.co.uk 0.

A wholly negative performance from Sassco nearly got them a result. It was in the dying minutes when Liam Wooton scored the winner after constant pressure throughout the game. Simpson was excellent in the Sassco goal. McConville had a glorious chance to score for Sassco just before they conceded, when he scooped the ball over the bar. Sassco were missing Muers and Mouat, but Danny Lay made his first appearance for a strong looking Fusion side, this season.

Both Brian Marley and Rikki Kennedy were sent off late in the game (on video). Also, full marks to Paul McCluskey for answering a late call from Sassco and also somehow squeezing the tight Kappa top over a tracksuit top.

A stunning win for Impact over the Champions.

Downhill Impact 1 Redhouse Fusion 0.
A truly astonishing win for Impact. The score was 0-0 and in the dying minutes, Impact broke clear and fired in the eventual winner. A fully depleted Impact team did their Manager, Pearson, proud. His goalkeeper, replacing the increasingly unreliable Logan, pulled off some extraordinary saves. A great performance and a memorable result.

WWC 5 Sassco.co.uk 0.
A very poor Sassco team; unchanged from last week, faced a stronger WWC side who rattled five goals past Simpson. The result, combined with Fusion’s loss, puts WWC well back into the race.

Sassco.co.uk 9 New Tavern Predators 2.
The new team started well, but struggled in keeping a man in defence and suffered a heavy defeat against a rampant Sassco team.

The Season 14 Champions.

Sassco.co.uk 3 Downhill Impact 0.
An almost unrecognisable Impact team suffered a trouncing at the hands of Sassco.co.uk, who had Keith Mouat in as a replacement for Stephen Conlin. Bri Marley also made an appearance, but it was Lee Ramsay who opened the scoring, before Muers added two goals.

Redhouse Fusion 4 WWC 1.
A thrilling end-to-end game in the treacherous conditions saw Josh Lay fire in two goals, along with Andrew Turner and Liam Wooton adding the others.
