Ramsay’s second half goal gives Sassco their first win.

Lee Ramsay nods in the only goal of the game.

Quite a few chances from last week’s game against Northern Alliance Chemfica. In came Nicky Smith, Nick Danks, Dan Young, Andy Turner and Simon Mulvaney. Sassco expected a win, and got it courtesy of Lee Ramsay’s heading goal, early in the second half.

The game was at Gateshead 3G, played at the same time as an athletics meeting, so every sound resembling a shot was the starting pistol, or some grunt in Gateshead firing at us. We all arrived in time, with only Andy Turner arriving late and just prior to kick off. The start of the game wasn’t too impressive as Houghton Bethany, featuring Tim Gillespie, took control at the start. Eventually we settled and it wasn’t too long before we had some good chances.

Langan, puffed cheeks and extended belly, challenges for the ball.

One of them came from Chris Dixon, who’s bicycle shot cannoned off the crossbar. I told him I’d write a paragraph on it.

In the second half, Greenwell and Mulvaney came on and eventually Sassco scored, when Langan’s cross was nodded in and over the goalkeeper to make it 1-0.

Nick Danks in hot pursuit of Marc Siddall during the second half.

The red mist then took over. Firstly, Nick Danks was told to be “replaced” before he was sent off, then Simon threw a wobbler and had to be “replaced”. Warning: excessive arguments and threatening to “chin” someone means that players won’t be invited to come back into the squad. I’ve no time or interest in be called up before committees and regulatory bodies to explain actions.

Houghton had a glorious chance to equalise, but Marc Siddall tried to lob Dave Smith and then chance went.

The rest of the game was played out without any incidents.

Sassco conceding six goals? No wonder, with MC Hammer in goal wearing non-Adidas track bottoms.

While Campbell was listening to the droning voice of Michael Buble, I was left on the sidelines in the sticks at Peterlee worrying if my car was being broken into while Muers put on a superb display of how to miss easy chances.

We went 1-0 up with the aforementioned watching the opponent ‘keeper palm an easy shot into his own net. At the other end, an equally flapping goalkeeper, Marc McDermont (Simma bottled it after I told him his stats were three games – twelve goals conceded), conceded easily and we were soon 3-1 down. Macca’s first act in the game was to run up and boot Nicky Smith as hard as he could in the knee, while pretending to look like MC Hammer with his ridiculously baggy tracksuit bottoms (non-Adidas as well).

After it went to 4-1, we made a comeback at 4-2, then 5-3. Muers scored again and Andy Turner struck his first for the team. A period of domination occurred when we hit the crossbar, had several chances misses and cleared off the line. Simon also was “snipered” early in the second half with no player near him. He just keeled over.

The team ran out of steam and conceded late on to make it 6-3 to conclude a poor season. Now everyone has to relax, put their feet up, go on holiday and return for our pre-season which starts next week with a AGUK Cup game against Redhouse FC.

Town End “Thunder” past a sorry Sassco.

WWC 4 Downhill Impact 0.

Downhill’s last game was the historic 1-0 victory over the Champions, but this week (after a one week break), it was back down to earth with WWC handing out a resounding thumping. Downhill performed resiliently enough, but struggled to find the back of the net.

Redhouse Fusion 8 Sassco.co.uk 0.
A weakened Sassco team faced Fusion again, this after New Tavern Predators had been suspended (albeit temporarily). The resilient performance last week was a distant memory as Fusion raced into an early lead and never looked back. Every outfield players scored. Wooton with four, both Lays with one each and Baxendale and Andrew Turner with one each.

Town End Thunder 6 Sassco.co.uk 1.
More disappointment in the second game against the revived Town End Thunder, now under the control of Marc McDermont, after Paul “Tyson” Stokoe had forced the previous version into administration. 6-1 was the final score. Neil Richardson scored two, McDermont and Tyson scored one each.

Four goal win over WWC sees Fusion head the pack.

The Season 14 Champions.

Sassco.co.uk 3 Downhill Impact 0.
An almost unrecognisable Impact team suffered a trouncing at the hands of Sassco.co.uk, who had Keith Mouat in as a replacement for Stephen Conlin. Bri Marley also made an appearance, but it was Lee Ramsay who opened the scoring, before Muers added two goals.

Redhouse Fusion 4 WWC 1.
A thrilling end-to-end game in the treacherous conditions saw Josh Lay fire in two goals, along with Andrew Turner and Liam Wooton adding the others.
