Despite having Rikki Kennedy, who showed his age and lack of fitness with a poor performance, Downhill were lucky to have Jimmy Raeper aboard, and he destroyed the Roar, with a superb second half performance. Roker Roar had limited Downhill to a single goal, carrying on their stubborn performances from the last two games (both wins), but a penalty given away saw them collapse.

Just as Brook Dickens was heading for the chop; the first managerial casualty of the season, a missed penalty and then an excellent long range effort saw his team take the lead against the Redhouse Storm. Eventually, after a tough battle, they managed to take their first three points.

Sassco, wearing an uncomfortable Umbro made England top, made an uncomfortable start as they were swamped by the Rockets – who were coming into the came on the back of a win against their fierce rivals, Seaburn Soca. Struggling to find their feet, Sassco managed to score an equaliser against the run of play and eventually struck a second goal in the second half. Breathing space was achieved when Stevie Weavie Borat hammered home the third and decisive goal.
