Sassco cruised through the group, but eliminated in the knock-out stage.

A far better performance this year, with the team comprising of Kevin Cooper, Curtis Newbold, Davinder Sangha, Aden Bannister and Jake Dyke.

Game 1

Sassco.co.uk won 3-1

Goals from Aden Bannister 2, Curtis Newbold 1

This game pitted us against a very strong side, who rifled in an equaliser soon after we scored a break-away goal. We were strong and defended well the entire game and grabbed two goals to give us some breathing space.

Game 2

Sassco.co.uk won 4-0

Goals from Curtis Newbold 3 (1 pen), Jake Dyke 1 (missed 1 pen)

A quick shout for a penalty led to Curtis dispatching it and a 1-0 lead, part of an eventual hat-trick. The game got slightly aggressive, but didn’t boil over. A complete shut out led to a 4-0 victory. It could have been more, but Jake squandered a second penalty.

Quarter Final

Sassco.co.uk lost 2-0

The knock-out stages took place some time after the group games had ended, so we struggled a bit against a very strong team. An early goal saw us pushing. We did have chances, but the opponents scored a second late on to send us home in time for the Carabao Cup.

An enjoyable experience, so I’m sure we’ll pop over next year for the same..
