The updated squad is shown for the Denmark Tour 2014, which takes place in Copenhagen.
Sassco have been assigned a local based goalkeeper, Musa Binici, but the remaining players come from the UK. From the North East; Sunderland, Washington, Thornley and Newton Aycliffe, and one player from London. The opponents wish to play 7-a-side, but will reduce their numbers if one of the Sassco players is injured.
A brief biography of the players in shown below.
Musa Binici Assigned to the Sassco team by Kenneth Holm. Musa, will have big gloves to fill, with Kevin Cooper, Dave Smith, Dave Simpson, and, err… Mark Muers as his predecessors.
Davinder Sangha Ageing legs in defence on tour number six. Providing the back bone of defence. Turned the game around in France, where the team was too open at the back during the first half. Came in an shut out the opponents long enough for Sassco to gain a stronger lead.
Arjan Sangha Still in junior school when the tours started, but takes his place in defence. Currently playing in local competitions.
Tim Gillespie Returns (I hope so, as we’ve printed his kit) for the first time since 2011 and will be the fulcrum in the centre of the park. Hopefully by breaking up the attacks and passing to the offensive players.
David Gourlay Foolishly injured at the moment, but fighting to be fit for the opener. A prime target for the opponents now (even though they don’t even know he’s injured).
Mike (Max Baxter) Barker Attacking midfield player on his debut for the tour. Hopes are high for him, as Gourlay is injured and Tim might not turn up.
Chris Dixon Most likely to be spearheading the attack, but could also drop down the field to assist in defence if needs be. |
