Large wins during the 40 minute games

It was searing heat, as six teams kicked off Season 20 (wonder how many will be left at the end). The marathon league takes place every month and we had three 40 minute fixtures played.

Sassco.co.uk 18 UCS Renewables 4
The veteran team of Scott Wright, Stewart Wright, along with Paul and Mick Lovstad, with poor Duggan in goal suffered against a more experienced Sassco team, with the added bonus of Gareth Greener and (err….) Muers. Nelly Richardson, with Marc McDermont and Paul Tyson Stokoe finished the outfield line up. Sangha was in goal.

Carpet Centre Elite 6 The Blizzard 2
Teeb Farrer and Dave Gourlay, along with a litany of stars of the 5-a-side were successfully live streamed on Facebook. While Teeb was getting all the abuse online (mainly from Billy Harrison), his team, after a nervy start, ran out winners. Carl Middlemiss in goal, was particulary impressive.

Redhouse Fusion 15 Crown Electrics 5
Fatty Wardle was sent off late in this game (but allowed back on as he said “sorry”) by Gavin Sloans who discovered how much of a gobshite he has been since the early 2000s. Yes Trigger was making a showing for Fusion and bumped up the average age of the team. Herkes was also making an appearance, which saw the champions run out comfortable winners.

Goal difference doesn’t count in this league, as some games will be played over longer times, or shorter times. Ideally each team plays each other twice.

Next scheduled games are on the 26th May, but it’s likely we could reduce the time, or play two games back-to-back.
