The initial 11 who have paid the money for the Stadium of Light game have been set to start as we now have had two drop outs from the original 13. All now will remain on the pitch for 90 minutes.
The line is not too different to the recent team which played, and defeated, Sunderland Deaf FC 5-2 at Chester-le-Street. Cresswell and Hembrough are in attack, Muers and Dixon as central defenders, and Barker, Brook, Gourlay and Middlemiss combining in the midfield. Simpson pops back into goal after Dave Smith’s withdrawal due to injury. Mark Turnbull is on the right side of defence and Sangha is on the left side.
Originally, Sangha, Turnbull, Muers and Middlemiss were to be subbed for the potential 4 remaining members, but we now have 11 in total, so everyone plays for 90 minutes.
For those still to pay, the day will be one to remember for Sassco as they set foot in the most ambitious venue to date. A reminder of what is available on the day:
- Full 90 minute game for a squad of 15 on the pitch
- Use of the Sunderland Stadium of Light dressing room
- Referee and linesmen (not Ken Street)
- Warm up session (kicking the ball around)
- Pre-match and half time refreshments (no need to bring your own water)
- Man of the match presentation
- Team Photograph
- Post-match meal
Cost is £1800 in total, so it’s £120 per player based on a squad of 15. As we had less players, the total cost is now £163, which means all the players pay an extra £43.The kit has already been arranged. We’re donning orange jerseys, so the team need to finance their own black shorts and socks.
We’ve been booked in for Thursday 9th June, 7:00pm to 9:45pm
