Harper / Harley hat-trick.
David Murton turned up with a youthful looking team with dilated pupils, while the Sassco team was mainly aging, with a couple of youngsters on it.
The newbies for Sassco included Andy Kibble (old), Ollie Collinson (young), Mark Lawton (old), Harley Telford (not sure), along with regulars, David Gourlay, Kevin Cooper, Davinder Sangha, Paul McConville, Mike Barker, James Collinson (all old), Aidan Low and John Harper (both acting old).
It didn’t start well. While waiting for Cooper, Sassco conceded after around a minute, but then turned it around and performed well; playing a 3-4-1 formation in 9-a-side. Playing 9-a-side, is a bit unusual for Sassco, but the team learned from the previous game v M.U.A.S. and the squad were prepped and adapted. Which is quite good considering that these teams are bundled together for the occasion. The squad managed to switch well in different positions; attackers playing in defence and vice versa.
The first half ended 3-1 to Sassco, with Harper, Telford and Barker firing in the goals to overturn the deficit. The second continued, with Harper and Telford eventually getting a hat-trick each. At 5-2, The Flying Boat, now coming out of the stupor, being on a downer, along with having the munchies, made a brief flurry to come back to 5-3, only to see Sassco score late goals. The final “next goal the winner”, was scored by The Flying Boat.
The game was played without a referee, but didn’t flare up – although Bunta will be pissed that Sassco had around two minutes on the pitch with 10 men. Gormless buggers wouldn’t come off.
