A late strike secures it for M.U.A.S in a steaming “Barn”.

A 9-a-side competitive and equally balanced friendly game at The ⁵ of Light saw Sassco.co.uk’s select chasing the game against M.U.A.S. FC. They took the lead near the end but succumbed to an equaliser before a last-minute strike in the humid conditions in “The Barn” gave M.U.A.S. FC the victory.

Sassco’s squad was mixed, with Kevin Cooper playing outfield, alongside Marc McDermont, James Collinson, John Harper, Mark McShane, Paul McConville and Davinder Sangha. Gareth Williams was in goal, while Dillon White made his Sassco debut.

M.U.A.S. were far better than expected with a strong attack and an excellent goalkeeper. Sassco’s ‘keeper, Gareth Williams, made some outstanding stops, as M.U.A.S. probably had the better of the chances. They went ahead, but soon after, James Collinson made the loudest possible scream to secure a penalty, which Harper dispatched. Eventually, M.U.A.S. went ahead again and almost immediately, Dillon White scored with a header from a cross.

Dillon White scores for Sassco in the second half.

The game followed this pattern. M.U.A.S. scored in the second half; Sassco equalised, before finally taking the lead at 4-3. It didn’t last long. Legs were giving away in the heat, as M.U.A.S. fired in a superb shot from an angle, before firing in the last minute winner.
